Our School-Based Health Center provides convenient, high-quality care right where students learn—supporting their health, well-being, and success every day.
The SBHC offers comprehensive healthcare services to students who are enrolled by their parent(s) or guardian(s). All students are eligible to receive these services at no cost.
Hamden is home to six School-Based Health Center locations, each offering a range of services to meet the needs of students and families.
The School-Based Health Centers at Hamden High School and Church Street School are administered by the Quinnipiack Valley Health District (QVHD).

Our Services
- Treatment and follow-up of minor illnesses and injuries
- Prescription and/or dispensing of medication for treatment
- Routine checkups and immunizations if needed
- Yearly Health Assessments and Immunization Reviews
- Treatment of skin conditions
- Health education program for children/parents
- Nutrition counseling
- Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of social and emotional problems
- Individual, group, and family counseling
- Risk reduction and early intervention services
- Referrals for primary care providers
- Case management, outreach and advocacy with school and social service agencies
- No out-of-pocket cost for medical or behavioral health services though insurance is billed
- Accept all health insurance plans
All services are free (no costs/fees) to families and students; however, students must be enrolled in the SBHC in order to receive services.
